About Maintenance

Gold-plated jewelry is a consumable item, so regular care and maintenance will extend its color retention.

S925 silver is relatively soft and the earring posts may be bent from shipping. If this happens, straighten it with your hands.
Cleaning silver, 18K gold, and gold plating with a soft, lint-free cloth will keep your jewelry shiny and tarnish-free.

Jewelry Tips:

  • Gold-plated silver may fade. Do not expose gold-plated silver to water, perfume or lotion as this may Causes the coating to fade.
  • Avoid extremes of temperature, humidity and sunlight. Any contact with perfumes/cosmetics and chemicals can cause metal discoloration.
  • Avoid bumps and scrapes.
  • We recommend that you remove your jewelry before going to bed.
  • Never wear gemstones near hot water, corrosive chemicals, and detergents. You can clean most gemstones with a soft, damp cloth after wearing them.
  • LAYUMI jewelry should be stored in a dark, cool and dry place within the box provided to help reduce tarnish, scratches and tangles.
  • This is not a defect and can be avoided by caring for your jewelry as described above.

If the jewelry is worn for a long time and lacks maintenance, blackening and oxidation are normal phenomena:

*Since there are tiny round holes on the surface of pearls, long-term exposure to oil fumes, cosmetics and other liquid gases can easily cause the pearls to turn yellow and lose their luster, so please avoid contact as much as possible. It can be wiped with flannel daily to keep it dry and clean!
*For gold-plated items, please use a cotton swab dipped in some toothpaste and apply it on the jewelry, then wipe it clean and dry before storing.
*For S925 silver jewelry, please use the provided silver polishing cloth to wipe directly.
